Podcast Notes – Episode 257

Hello again my bookish friends! We were time traveling this week, so the episode you are listening to was actually recorded before the big live event. Next week, you will hear that episode though, so stay tuned! This week, some of the book girls talked about their favorite reads, and what kind of book we gravitate to over and over. It’s all about those great comfort reads this podcast!

But first we had to have bizarre conversations, of course…

Do you guys get weird Facebook ads too, or is it only us? We get the ads for period panties over here. What weird ads do you get that make you wonder?

In case you guys haven’t heard of the Diva cup, here is a link:

I’ve heard tons of people say only positive things about it, but we can’t imagine using them for ourselves. Do any of you use one? Are you Yay or Nay? Are they as messy as we envision? Let us know on our Tribe page (join us here: Tribe)

We started waxing nostalgic about all the weird stuff from our youth. How many of you remember this stuff?

I used to play ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego’ on a computer like this

I bet you are dying to know our favorite reads though…

Vonnie’s book

Keathe’s book

Martha’s book

Can you pick a favorite book? Let us know what a comfort read looks like for you in the comments or on our Facebook page! Next week we’ll have all the craziness from the live show, so make sure to join us again. In the meantime, I hope you all have a great reading week, bookish friends!

Episode 256 – Podcast Notes

Hey there bookish friends! I hope you all had relaxing weeks doing exactly what you enjoyed (and mayeb a little reading sprinkled in there too). One of our Tribe members, Pat, joined us on the podcast this week! Have you joined the Tribe facebook group yet? 3 Book Girls Tribe

Can I just tell you how surreal it is to know that our next podcast is going to be live in Boulder, CO?!?!? We are so excited to meet any and all of our bookish friends that can make it over to Trident Booksellers and Cafe on Saturday at 12pm. You’ll get to see exactly how ridiculous we all are, and the stuff behind the scenes! So, if you’re in the area, please come up and say ‘Hi’ because we are just dying to meet you!

This week was Vonnie’s birthday! Happy Birthday, Vonnie! (insert offkey singing here)

Have you heard about this whole California thing with the possible bacon shortage in 2022? What are we going to have with our pancakes and eggs? Not to mention the topping on our pizza! I guess turkeys are going to have to step up to the plate and become the new substitute bacon and sausage staples. If you haven’t heard about this yet, you can find an article here:

bacon shortage

Would you pay higher prices as long as you could have the real thing? I need all my money for books, so I’d go with the turkey bacon (but it would never be the same) 😦

What the heck is the deal with the mice sweating out fat? Um, nasty! I’m telling you right now, I would have oily trails behind me everywhere I went!

mice sweat fat – ew

I’d rather my fat left me in cute little adipose creatures like the episode of Dr. Who. Have you seen that episode? People lose weight in the form of adorable little creatures like this one:

(that thing is seriously adorable)

We also talked about the difference between a turkey and a guinea fowl. I’d certainly never seen a guinea fowl, so I (of course) had to google it:

It looks like one of the bad guys from The Dark Crystal

Ok, Ok. We talked about books too!

Vonnie’s book

Keathe’s book

Pat’s book

Martha’s book

That’s it for this week, bookish friends! I hope you all have a great week, and really hope to be able to meet some of you in Boulder!

Podcast Notes – Episode 255

Hello again bookish friends! Hope you had an amazing weekend, and got in some great reading, or went out and enjoyed the sunshine, or both! We had Allison, a member of our Facebook Tribe (that you can join on Facebook here: Book Tribe) join us this week on the podcast! There were some inappropiate conversations had, like always, so let’s get going!

Don’t forget that our live podcast in Boudler, Colarado is coming up on August 14th from 12-2pm at Trident Booksellers and Cafe. We’d love it if our book loving people would come out so we can meet you all!

Allison let us in one a cool library secret (to me at least). There are many libraries that allow people outside of the state obtain a library card for a fee (usually between $25-$50 a year). The beauty of this is that if you use an ereader, you can then enter that card into your Libby or Autodrive account, and have more ebooks to choose from!

Keathe mentioned the Philadelphia Free Library as one that participates in this program, but unfortunately they no longer allow anyone out of state to obtain a card, but we found a list of large libraries that do here: Get More Library Cards Online

Many of us are watching the Olympics this week, and the 3 Book Girls have a legitimate question: Are male runners bothered by the lack of support around their junk when they run? As a woman, I don’t think I could run without my girls being heavily restrained. Is it true for guys too? Look at this video, and you can see what we mean:

Do you know a guy who runs? Ask him and satisfy our curiosity. Let us know in the comments, or on facebook, please!

Guess what? We talked about books too!

Vonnie’s book

Keathe’s book

Allison’s book

Martha’s book

For those of you wondering about that stripper scene in The Proposal that Vonnie was waxing nostalgic about, you can see it here:

And that new TikTok trend that Allison mentioned? Here it is:

And that is it for this week, bookish friends! Hope you all have an amazing reading week!

Podcast Notes – Episode 254

Hello bookish friends, and welcome to another great week of reading, and the inappropriate conversations that make us who we are!

We had Jaime Shetrone on the podcast this week! She is a longtime member of the 3 Book Girls Tribe (have you joined us yet, you can do so here: 3 Book Girls Tribe) and she has been our latest list keeper on the Friday night Zoom chat which we link to every week from the 3 Book Girls Tribe facebook page. It was Jaime’s first time on our podcast, so hopefully we didn’t scare her too much…

We discusses some pretty bad smelling things, including the decomposing turtle smell (the scale on which Keathe bases all bad smells now). Here is a picture of Ziggy the turtle (warning, he was super cute!)

Vonnie says that to get rid of all nasty smells, we really need to purchase these:

We aren’t sure exactly what she has in her closet (dead turtles?) but this will get rid of that smell.

Oh, and if you can’t quite picture the incredibly strange Bigfoot slide that we were all talking about this week, here is a picture of the sheer insanity of it all:

I don’t have words for that, so we’ll move along…

to another strange picture of stuff we talked about. Have you ever seen a Proboscus Monkey? I hadn’t, but now I know just a little bit more than I’ve ever wanted to about nature:

And no, Martha’s nose doesn’t really look like that. (Thank goodness!)

What do you know? We talked a little about books too:

Vonnie’s book

Keathe’s book

Jaime’s book

Martha’s book

Martha’s book has already been optioned for a movie starring Amy Adams!

If you want to buy Vonnie’s laser hair remover and tell us if it works (since Vonnie still hasn’t tried hers) you can get it by clicking here:

and for those of you dying to know, this is what a rooster penis cozy looks like:

Look out for that beak!!!!!!

For everyone who wants to know where Martha got those awesome masks she posted oin Facebook, you can purchase them here:

And that is going to do it for this week, fellow bookish friends. Hope you have an amazing week of reading ahead!

Podcast Notes – Episode 253
