Hello again, bookish friends! Hope you all had a great reading week, and are staying warm. We know that some of you will have a day off for Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday on Monday, and what better way to celebrate this week, by reading some great books that highlight the civil rights movement, history, and historical figures you might not know a lot about? If you’re looking for recommendations, here are a few that the Book Girls are fond of:
This week we started out chatting about some weird stuff (I know, I know, when don’t we start out that way). We’ve been reading about ‘pony play’ though, and have been getting quite the education (and have been screwing up our google search algorithms). Here is the picture that Vonnie was sharing with us (that we later decided was actually a dog or wolf and not a pony mask after all):
We were trying to decide just how difficult getting into and out of a rubber suit would be. We couldn’t help reminiscing about how difficult it was for Ross, from the tv show Friends, to put on a pair of leather pants after taking them off:
We also discussed some of our culinary disasters, such as too much nutmeg in the meat, and cooking smelt into the pan. (Here are what smelt look like if you’re like me and had no idea what the heck they are):
Somehow amidst all the crazy conversations, we also talked books:
Voni’s book:
Keathe’s book:
Pat’s book:
Martha’s book:
Another week of great books is done. Hope you are having a great reading week, and we will see you next time, bookish friends!
