Random bonus pie crust recipe:
For a single crust 8-9 inch pie:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon Crisco
- 2-3 tablespoons water
Stir flour and salt together. Add the Crisco and cut into the flour with a pastry cutter or two knives. Don’t mix too much; it should look like fine gravel. (The bits of Crisco will melt as it bakes and leave tiny air spaces — that’s what makes the pastry flaky.) Add the water and mix til dough forms a ball. Roll out to about 1/8 inch thick and line your pie pan.
(For a double crust pie, just double all ingredients and divide the ball of dough into two pieces, one slightly larger than the other. Use the larger ball for the base and the smaller for the top crust.)
